Profile: Emilia Clarke

Because I’m a massive Game of Thrones fan, it’s safe for anyone to assume that I’m also a massive fan of a majority of the cast, specifically Emilia Clarke. This woman is so damn classy, goofy and wonderful, and her ability to be all of these things simultaneously is one of the few reasons I’m such a fan of hers.

Emilia Isabelle Euphemia Rose Clarke (quite the mouthful) was born on Oct. 23, 1986, in London. She and her older brother were raised in Berkshire by her father, a theatre sound engineer, who recently passed away in 2016 from cancer.

Clarke’s interest in acting developed when she was a mere three years of age. She saw the musical Show Boat (which he father was working with), and graduated from the Drama Centre London in 2009.

Clarke was cast as Daenerys Targaryen in 2010 for Game of Thrones, though was not the first choice for this character apparently (the original person who was cast did not keep the role for undisclosed reasoning). In 2016 she was cast as the female lead in Solo: A Star Wars Story and she has appeared in various other films since.

Fun fact: Clarke earns two million for each GOT episode.

She dated Seth McFarlane from 2012-13 for about six months and she currently resides in Hampstead, London. She also owns a house in Venice Beach, CA.

Clarke was voted the most desirable woman in the world by AskMen readers in 2014; she was named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive in 2015; and in 2017, she appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone.

This woman knows how to do it.

In addition to being a phenomenal actress and a beautiful soul, Clarke significantly contributes to charity work. In Sept. 2011, she joined SMA Trust team as their celebrity ambassador; in August 2017 she became involved with Open Door, a non-profit organization that aims to assist youth in gaining access to drama school auditions at the 2018 Sean Penn Charity Gala, she auctioned the opportunity to watch a GOT episode with her  and raised $120,000 to contribute to the J/P HRO & Disaster Relief Organizations; in February 2018 she attended London’s Centerpoint Awards to celebrate the strength and courage of the homeless; and in April of this year she was given the title of ambassador to the Royal College of Nursing in the UK.

If you don’t follow this lady on social media, you likely should. She’s an absolute inspiration and role model to anyone.
