Helping working dad’s with Dove

Dove, a highly-recognized brand in North America, is at the receiving end of some feel-good news as of late.

To provide American fathers with the opportunity to be present in their newborn children’s lives, Dove is providing multi-thousand dollar grants for working dads who are unable to benefit from paid paternity leave.
Dove created their Paternity Leave Fund with “goal of giving away at least $1 million in paternity leave grants to proud fathers over the course of the next two years,” said an article from the Good News Network.
If interested in the grants, applicants can enter their submission on the company website, along with reasoning as to why the $5,000 grant will benefit their family. The program will run until Dec. 31, 2020.
Currently, there are roughly nine countries that do not offer some variant of paid maternity leave, the article explains. Paid paternity leave can be difficult to come across, as fewer than one in five fathers are given the option of paid paternity leave.
Dove is hopeful that the grants will aid in bridging this gap until more inclusive legislation is offered to working fathers.

“Working dads shouldn’t have to choose between their children and a paycheck — because when they take paternity leave, it benefits families, workplaces and communities,” the company said in the article.

How awesome is this initiative from Dove? Not only does it encourage family unity by giving men the opportunity to make use of paid paternity leave, but further, this initiative challenges the stereotype that women are solely responsible for raising newborn children.

I think it’s absolutely fantastic.

It’s also commendable that Dove, a company with a massive platform, is using their voice to promote inclusivity and familial investment. When a company the size of Dove can use their social presence to contribute to a positive cause, what’s not to like?
