Trying to pick out a movie with your partner while browsing through Netflix can be a trying task. Depending on what both of you like and also dislike, it can be difficult to establish a middle ground and settle for a film that both of you have the potential to enjoy.
Blaine and I were trying to determine what to watch on Netflix not too long ago, and because we got tired of the endless scrolling, we ended up going with Girl on the Third Floor.
I can say with complete honesty that this selection was a poor one on both of our behalf’s (although I will point out that it was ultimately Blaine’s pick).
Girl on the Third Floor is a 2019 drama/horror/mystery film. It stars C.M. Punk aka Phil Brooks as Don, the movie’s main character; Trieste Kelly Dunn as Liz, Don’s wife; and Sarah Brooks as Sarah Yates, a sort of a neighbor to Don and Liz. There are a handful of secondary characters, but they’re sort of insignificant for the purpose of this post.
This movie follows Don as he attempts to fix up a run-down mansion for himself and his pregnant wife. It becomes apparent relatively early on in the film that Don is a bit of a man whore despite the fact his wife is carrying his child, and before long, he ends up sleeping with Sarah, a neighbor. After his romp in the hay with Sarah, things in the house start to go downhill quickly, and Don discovers that the house he is renovating has a grisly past, as does Sarah who is tied to the house.
I can’t really say anything positive about this movie – the plot was shit and difficult to follow, and I found it to be unnecessarily violent and gory. It left me with a lot of questions, and both Blaine and I agreed that this is one new Netflix release you can avoid.
