Has COVID-19 made you feel more comfortable in your own skin?

Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, many of us have been spending the vast majority of our time inside our homes. As a result of our limited outings, and based on what I personally have seen across social media platforms, many of us are abstaining from putting our usual effort into our appearances since we aren’t going out into public nearly as much as we once were.

I haven’t worn makeup or properly done my hair for about a month now. I’m still abiding by my morning and evening skin routine, and I’m still showering and washing my hair when needed for hygiene purposes, but my makeup collection and hair styling tools have definitely been put on the back burner since the virus made its presence undeniable in our lives. And, quite honestly, I’ve never been more comfortable in my own skin than I have since being stuck at home.

Prior to this pandemic occurring, I refused to leave the house without makeup on because of my problematic skin. My acne makes me very self-conscious, therefore I wouldn’t feel comfortable going out in public without concealing my face. But, since it’s been a hot minute since I’ve worn makeup, I’ve found that I simply don’t really care as much as I used to in terms of what other people think about my natural appearance, and I honestly think this is a wonderful realization.

I can’t speak for everyone, but based on what I have encountered, there are a lot of people feeling the same way I am in this regard. The entire COVID-19 situation is, without a doubt, an absolute shit show of a scenario, but I think the peace I’ve made with my own natural appearance is at least one positive I can take from this pandemic. Apparently, it takes a lethal virus to allow me to feel confident without makeup on, but either way, I’m not mad about it.
