Choose to communicate

Communication is a pretty major component of daily life for most of us. Depending on the sort of work we do, conversation can be a tremendous occurrence throughout any given day, and outside of the working world as well.

I’ve found that as I have gotten older, I’ve come to realize just how useful and powerful communication can be. It is something we somewhat orient our lives, jobs and relationships around, and without it, the world would be a very different place.

Despite the significance of communication, I’ve found that a lot of us struggle with what it entails. We arguably all know at least one person who isn’t the strongest communicator, and chances are we have all been in a situation in which there
was a communication mishap which leads to a lot of confusion and annoyance.

Communication, in my opinion, is a concept that is deserving of a lot more acknowledgement than it typically receives. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish a whole lot, yet I find so many of us take our ability to communicate freely and openly for granted.

A conscious recognition of the stupendous value that exists within the ability to communicate is required now more than ever considering the state of the world we are living in. We have never found ourselves in society so full of hate, anger, violence and oppression until now, and the unification of communication from multiple perspectives is a very valuable tool in such a misconstrued social state.

At the end of the day, we possess the power to engage in communication in an attempt to make our voices heard. I think too many of us underestimate the change communication can encourage and provoke, and I think it is due time to use it to its fullest potential.

  1. As someone who hates confrontation AND is an introvert, I find that conversation is something I have to constantly work at. I can foresee it being useful for me though. If only it wasn’t so damned hard. Thanks for this post!
