Bone broth: worthy of the hype?

As I’ve made mention of numerous times here on my blog in the past, I have a lot of digestive issues. I’ve endured just about every test and procedure under the sun to try and figure out what exactly is causing my guts to hate me, and so far, I haven’t had much luck.

I recently saw a Naturopath in hopes of approaching my digestive problems from another perspective, and one of the recommendations she gave me is to start consuming bone broth on a daily basis.

I’ve heard plenty of good things about this supposed bone broth, but I’ve never actually tried it out for myself. I thought I would do a little bit of research to see whether or not this stuff is worth trying out, and this information comes from Healthline.

  • “Bone broth is rich in minerals that help build and strengthen your bones. It also contains many other healthy nutrients, including vitamins, amino acids and essential fatty acids.
  • “The gelatin in bone broth supports healthy digestion. It may be beneficial for individuals with leaky gut or other inflammatory bowel diseases.
  • “The amino acids in bone broth can help fight inflammation. Because of this, eating it may help protect against disease.
  • “The amino acids in bone broth help support joint health, and consuming it may help lessen the symptoms of arthritis.
  • “The gelatin in bone broth has been shown to promote feelings of fullness. Consuming it on a regular basis may reduce calorie intake and lead to weight loss over time.
  • “Glycine has been shown to promote sleep. Taking it before bed may improve quality of sleep, mental function and memory,” Healthline’s website explains.

It’s pretty apparent that this stuff offers a shit load of beneficial properties to those who consume it. I find drinking it to be the most effective means of consumption, and while I’ve just recently introduced bone broth into my diet, I think it is safe to say it is undoubtedly worthy of the hype.
