All love for Mr. Cillian Murphy

In the unlikely instance you consider yourself a cellar dweller and don’t see too much of the light of day, there is a strong chance you’re aware that the Oscars, otherwise known as The Academy Awards, were this past weekend.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually sat down to watch the Oscars, but I know some folks who absolutely love watching awards shows and awards season as a whole.

This most recent Oscars was no exception to my non-watching habit, but I do try and check in the next day to see if I am familiar with any of the actors/actresses and the films that came out on top. I was sincerely hoping that Cillian Murphy would win Best Actor for his portrayal of Robert Oppenheimer in the film Oppenheimer, and sure enough, he did.

I feel as though unless you’re a fan of Peaky Blinders, it is probable you were, or remain to be, unfamiliar with Cillian Murphy and his work. Starring in Oppenheimer has certainly given the man some much-deserved attention and recognition, and honestly, it’s about damn time.

I’m not one to become personally involved with celebrities and their lives, but I absolutely love Cillian Murphy. If you watch any interview footage of him, it is evident rather quickly that he is completely oblivious to how fantastic of an actor he is, and, furthermore, how much discomfort he experiences as a result of being a celebrity. He is incredibly humble and seems to live a simple life to the best of his ability, and knowing there are individuals like him who share his values and approach to work in the Hollywood realm is honestly comforting, and refreshing.

I saw an interview Emily Blunt, Cillian’s co-star in Oppenheimer (she plays his wife) gave about Cillian and his work, and I don’t think she could sum it up any better – she described him as being one of the best actors out there, and one of the worst celebrities.
