When it comes to the paranormal realm, the term ‘paranormal’ itself is a blanket term. The word paranormal can refer to a plethora, and further, a wide range of entities and energies, and the term itself refers to anything that cannot be explained, or justified, with reasonable scientific understandings and observations.
Most people, when they hear the word paranormal, think of ghosts, and understandably so, arguably thanks to huge Blockbuster films like Paranormal Activity. Ghost is yet another blanket term that is often tossed around in the paranormal world, but a lot of people are entirely unaware of the fact that there are numerous types of ghosts that exist.
One type of ghost is called an interactive, or an intelligent one, and this refers to a spirit that can make its presence known to you by speaking, making noises, touching you, and moving objects around. These types of ghosts are often somehow tied, or linked to the location or object they’re haunting; perhaps they once lived in a home and are unable to pass over to the spirit realm for a variety of reasons. Interactive/intelligent spirits are not usually malicious.
Another type of ghost is known as a poltergeist. Poltergeists are similar to intelligent/interactive ghosts in the sense they, too, can make sounds and move items around, but the intent of their behaviour is different. An interactive/intelligent ghost will make itself known oftentimes for benign reasons – it does not intend ill will or harm. A poltergeist, on the other hand, will do these same things with the intent to scare, and will usually intensify its activity over time. Poltergeists are rare, and they tend to direct their behaviour toward one person, as opposed to an interactive/intelligent spirit, who will interact with anyone.
