What’s your style?

When it comes to fashion, I have no shame in admitting that I’m not as up-to-speed on current trends and themes as I might like to be. I’ve always had an interest in fashion; when I was younger, I was obsessed with the television series America’s Next Top Model, and I remember being positively enthralled by some of the clothing and designs worn by the women on the show.

Present-day, my interest in fashion is comparable to what it once was, but my actual wardrobe doesn’t exactly reflect this. A few years ago, when I was in post-secondary school and then an office workplace, my closet was looking fire. I had built up a solid repertoire of work-appropriate, semi-formal clothing, and I wore the shit out of these items at any opportunity I had.

Once I left the corporate realm and returned to the farm to work, my snazzy clothes and I took a long break. Wearing slacks and blouses to work on the farm is not the most logical, nor feasible choice, and over time, my button-ups were replaced with pullovers, my dress pants with sweats and jeans, and my sandals with work boots.

I would like to think I can identify with a specific style, but I’m not entirely sure I can. I say this because my closet contains a blend of different styles that I’ve curated over the years, many left from when I was working in an office environment. Comfort is of tremendous importance when it comes to what I wear because I have some sensory issues with Lyme disease, but aside from that, I can’t really pinpoint my look to a certain style. If anything, perhaps a bit of Tomboy with some femininity mixed in from time-to-time, but I sort of enjoy not fitting into one specific categorization.
