I am struggling to acknowledge the fact that Christmas is only a few weeks away, and I doubt I am alone in my struggle. Time seems to be passing quicker and quicker all the time, and it quite honestly feels as though we just had Halloween.
I enjoy Christmas as much as the next person, and while by no means would I consider myself a Scrooge, sometimes, I have difficulty comprehending how absolutely bat-shit crazy some people act when the holidays arrive. Not to be a bitch, but it’s one day, so is it really necessary to create so much chaos and stress over something that will present itself yet again the following year?
I’ve met plenty of people in my life who deem gift cards an inappropriate gift, and I couldn’t disagree with this ideology more. The beauty of a gift card is that the recipient can use it for whatever they would like, which brings me to my next point; Christmas lists are another thing that seems to receive a lot of flack from judgmental people. I suppose on a surface level they’re a little shallow in the sense you’re literally writing down things you want, but on the other hand, a list provides ample opportunity for the giver to ensure that the gift they’re purchasing is truly something the recipient wants, and not something they will never use and stow away in the back of a distant closet somewhere.
So long as a Christmas list is contained, meaning it doesn’t become a list of demands or unattainable items, I don’t think they are a bad idea. Speaking personally, my parents used to get me gifts that honestly had no relevance to me when I was younger. Now that my sister and I are older, we usually give our parents a few ideas for gifts that are items we truly need, and it has made Christmas shopping so much easier.
