How was your Christmas?

I thought it might be somewhat interesting to share with all of you how my own Christmas celebrations went. Upon writing the previous sentence, however, I realize my own holiday activities are likely of interest to me and me only, so if you don’t give a flying fuck about how other people spent their holidays, feel free to skip this post.

On Christmas Eve, I went to mass with my mom and dad, my aunt and my grandmother. After mass, we all headed back to my parents’ place, along with my husband – he wasn’t able to attend mass because he was feeding his cows. My sister and two of my cousins joined us there, whereupon we feasted like Kings and Queens courtesy of my sister. That woman knows her way around a kitchen, and her cooking is a testament to this. After we ate, we hung around and reminisced on many hilarious events from our childhoods, and eventually, Blaine and I went back home.

On Christmas morning, Blaine and I exchanged gifts, and then we went to my parents again for brunch. We opened gifts there with my family, came back home for a little while, then went to Blaine’s parents and visited with them, his sister, and our niece. We ventured back home and spent the evening of Christmas just the two of us, which was nice.

On Boxing Day, Blaine attended his family’s Christmas with all of his extended relatives, and I sadly stayed home because I was in the midst of a Lyme flare-up and felt like a flaming bag of dog shit. Am I personally familiar with the sensation of a flaming bag of dog shit? No. But I like to think that’s how it would feel.

We had a nice Christmas this year, and I sincerely hope all of you did, too.
