I have always really loved fragrance and perfume. I think there is something so intriguing about scent, and furthermore how scent is so subjective and can appeal in different forms to almost all persons (If you have a fragrance sensitivity, I pity you, and I am sorry).
I received my very first bottle of perfume when I was in seventh grade as a gift from a very chivalrous classmate, and I still have it to this day. When I first got it, I was absolutely obsessed, and essentially smelled like a walking dish of pot pourri. I have learned over time that less is more when it comes to heavier scents, and I would definitely say that the Viva La Juicy perfume, which is what I received in seventh grade, is a heavier scent. According to its description on Sephora.com, Viva La Juicy has notes of Wild Berries, Mandarins, Honeysuckle, Gardenia, Jasmine, Amber, Caramel, Vanilla, Sandalwood, and Praline. What can I say, the stuff smells good.
My absolute favourite scent overall is undoubtedly vanilla, which has become an issue in my house because my mom absolutely despises the smell. Regardless of the occasional catfight, I still try to find and wear fragrances that incorporate a vanilla fragrance. My sister actually snagged me a divine vanilla perfume from Sephora – a sampler roller ball of the Pure Vanilla Fragrance by LAVANILA. Sephora.com describes the tantalizing brew as having notes of Madagascar Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Freesia, and Heliotrope. The great thing about the LAVANILA perfume is that is honestly lasts all day long. It’s difficult to find a perfume that holds out throughout the day, but this one certainly does the trick.
One other perfume I have comes across that I really like is RiRi by Rihanna. According to its description on basenotes.net, which is a fantastic website to reference if you’re curious about the scents in a perfume, RiRi by Rihanna has notes of passion fruit extract, rum, blackcurrant, mandarin, Japanese honeysuckle, jasmine, vanilla, musk and sandalwood. It’s a really light, feminine and floral perfume that is super versatile, which is why I really like it.
I am always looking for new and exciting scents, so if you have any recommendations for me, please leave a comment below and let me know which fragrances to explore next!
Thanks for reading.
