The Best Beauty YouTubers

I have to say, I have really surprised myself in the past couple of years in regards to my interest in makeup. Throughout high school, mascara and some concealer for the occasional pimple was the only makeup I donned in the morning, and I never thought twice about it.

My sister is actually who I owe my makeup knowledge to. She could make roadkill look good with the right products, and no, that is not an exaggeration. My sister is so talented when it comes to makeup use and application, on both herself and others, so it has certainly been beneficial having someone around who knows their stuff about cosmetics.

My sister has not only introduced me to makeup brands and products that are cruelty-free and better for your skin, but she has also introduced me to the world of makeup YouTubers. Considering I could’t tell the difference between an eyeliner pencil and a lip pencil a few years ago, it was a little overwhelming (there is a lot of makeup out there). But, over time, makeup started to make a little more sense to me, and although I am far from an expert today, I owe a lot of my cosmetic knowledge to some of the ladies my sister encouraged me to check out on YouTube.

My top 5 YouTube beauty gurus, in no particular order, are:

(1) Tati Westbrook (glamlifeguru)

(2) Carli Bybel

(3) Nikkie (NikkieTutorials)

(4) Nicole Guerriero

(5) Batalash Beauty

I would have to say I watch Tati the most, and I think it’s because she’s super honest when it comes to her opinions of products she tries out. Carli Babel and Nicole Guerriero are great because they film makeup reviews and tutorials, just as Tati does, but they both also post video blogs for something extra. NikkieTutorials and Batalash Beauty are by far the most hilarious beauty YouTubers I have come across, meaning their videos are informative but also incredibly entertaining at the same time.

Furthermore, despite their occupations as makeup professionals, all of these women are very real. They do not use makeup as a means to transform their appearance or hide who they are, but instead to enhance their natural features and experiment with the potential of their chosen products. I think a huge misconception with beauty YouTubers is that they are all perceived as vain and arrogant, but I think the women I mentioned challenge such a misconception and display themselves honestly and truthfully.

I have to give a shoutout to Kathleen Lights as well. I can’t say she is in my top 5 as of yet, because I only recently started watching her videos, but thus far I really like her, and I think she is a serious candidate for being one of my favourite beauty YouTubers.

Watching beauty YouTubers is not for everyone obviously, but if you’re into cosmetics and like experimenting with makeup then I highly recommend checking out some of the ladies I mentioned above. Or, better yet, start your own beauty channel on YouTube!
