With summer fast approaching, I am confident when I state that a lot of women are likely currently scrambling to determine a solution for their dry Winter hair. I certainly am. Cold and harsh climates do a lot more damage to hair then a lot of individuals realize, with such damage typically being the result of little moisture in the air throughout the duration of Winter.
I have purchased and experimented with many salon quality and drugstore quality hair treatments, though I have come to the conclusion that homemade hair treatments are just as effective in terms of reversing damage, dryness and repairing split ends. Who says you need to spend $50.00 to freshen up your mane?
Here are some homemade hair masks for you to try out on your own! A lot of these masks require ingredients you likely already have in your house, and are significantly cheaper than salon quality treatments. Give them a try and let me know how you make out!
Avocado, Egg and Honey Hair Mask: Mash half an avocado with two eggs and a tablespoon of honey. Apply to wet or dry hair, massaging it into the scalp, and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out in the shower.
Yogurt, Olive Oil and Coconut Oil Hair Mask: Mix 1/4 cup of yogurt, t tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of coconut oil in a bowl. Apply to wet or dry hair and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out in the shower.
Strawberry, Olive Oil and Egg Hair Mask: Mix 1/2 cup of mashed strawberries, 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1 egg in a bowl, apply to wet or dry hair and allow to sit for 30 minutes. Rinse out in shower.
On a side note, my number one tip for keeping hair healthy is to avoid over washing it, and to avoid over conditioning it. Try to wash your hair no more than three times a week, and ensure you apply conditioner mainly into the ends of your hair – only use what is left on your hands on your scalp. Take care of your mane, friend!
