Product Review: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

I used some of my Sephora membership points with my last online order to snag a mini-sized version of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I had heard fantastic reviews regarding this product, so I figured I would seize the opportunity to try it out for myself.

The full-size version of this product retails for $30.00 at Sephora, and according to its product description on the Sephora website, this mascara “separates, coats and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection.” The brush is designed in a manner to resemble the curves of a woman’s body (really?) and the formula contains collagen to create multidimensional lashes.

When I initially applied this product, I was thoroughly pleased with the length and volume of my lashes, both upper and lower. However, after wearing the product for a mere two hours, I noticed that the product had begun to transfer both above and below my lash lines. I had black smears below my brows and underneath my eyes, and by the end of the day, I looked like I had been punched in the face. Even after cleaning up the smudging several times throughout the day, I still looked like a raccoon. The transfer may have occurred because I have oily skin, but I had primer on my eyelids, so there really is no excuse I can fathom to justify the insane transfer of this product.

Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone. I looked over some of the reviews on the Sephora website, and it seems as though a majority of individuals love this mascara. I for one do not, and my $8.00 Covergirl mascara achieves the same length, definition, and volume as this mascara without transferring or smudging throughout the day.

Perhaps I received a bad batch, but this mascara was a huge disappoint for me personally.
