Profile: Jared Padalecki

As I have already mentioned here on my blog, I am a fan of the Supernatural series and also, therefore, its main characters. Jared Padalecki plays Sam Winchester on the show, and I thought I would explore who this man is outside of the series. This information is derived from Wikipedia.

Jared Tristan Padalecki was born on July 19, 1982. He is American, born in San Antonio, Texas, with his parents being of Polish and German descent. Padalecki had planned to attend the University of Texas after completing high school, however, he decided to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue acting as a career. He first achieved fame when he appeared in Gillmore Girls and further New York Minute and House of Wax.

Padalecki is married to Genevieve Cortese. The two wed in February of 2010, and Cortese has actually appeared as a character named Ruby in Supernatural, season four in particular. They have two sons named Thomas Colton Padalecki and Austin Shepherd Padalecki, as well as a daughter named Odette Elliot Padalecki. Jared and his family currently reside in Austin, Texas.

In March of 2015, Jared launched a campaign called Always Keep Fighting. The cause is to advocate and raise awareness for individuals suffering from depression, addiction, self-harm, and suicide. Padalecki himself has struggled with depression, and he and his co-star, Jensen Ackles, have together sold over 100,000 t-shirts to represent the cause.

Not only is Padalecki a great actor, he is further a devoted family man and an advocate for mental illness. What isn’t there to like about this lad? His role as Sam Winchester in Supernatural is dynamic, emotional, and honestly relatable despite his character being a hunter of supernatural entities. Oh, and an added bonus? His hair is absolutely phenomenal. Look him up if you’re unfamiliar with who he is and his work!
