I feel as though the title of today’s post appeals to the vast majority of people as opposed to a minority because it seems as though we are all trying our best to save some extra money here and there. This realization is equally harrowing as it is realistic – in one sense, it is alarming we all feel like we need to save money wherever we can, and in another, I suppose it is comforting, in a sense, to know we are not alone in this frivolous struggle.
By no means am I a financial expert, nor am I a professional saver, if that occupation even exists. Rather, I’ve always been someone who saves money to the best of my ability, and I’ve accumulated a few helpful and useful tips and suggestions over the years when it comes to saving money.
- Don’t be so quick to rush out and buy the newest version of something simply because everyone else and their mother is. Use what you have until you no longer can, and if you’re not able to fix it, then you can consider purchasing a new version. Try to resist seeing everything as dispensable and replaceable.
- Price compare. This might seem obvious, and like a small effort, but over time, these savings can really add up.
- Buy used clothing and/or furniture. I do all the time; always have, always will.
- Prioritize what you spend your money on – determine a budget that works best for yourself and needs, and if you notice you’ve been spending a lot of money on something that isn’t entirely necessary in your life, try and cut back or cut it out altogether.
- Invest in well-made, high-quality items as opposed to cheaply made ones that need to be replaced every few months.
A few changes here and there can prove to be tremendous.
