Welcome home, Timmy

Not too long after Blaine and I moved into our home, I noticed a sweet cat hanging around our property. I later figured out she is female, and I will get to that shortly, and despite my best efforts to be able to handle her, I came to the ultimate conclusion she is too feral and requires a lot more interactive work before she feels comfortable around humans.

I figured out she was female when I noticed her mid-section looking a wee bit larger than normal; shortly after I made this observation, Blaine and I could hear her kittens, but she had hidden them well.

About a week later, in the midst of a wicked thunderstorm, I found her kittens sleeping beneath a hosta plant in our flowerbed. I put on some gloves, put them in a box with some towels, and moved them into one of the barns so they had shelter. I’ve named their mother momma cat, and I ensured momma cat saw me move her babies so she understood I was trying to help them and her, not take her babies away.

Momma cat had five kittens; two orange, two black, and one grey. They hung around our place for a couple of weeks as I was feeding them, but one morning, all of them but one orange kitten were gone.

The little orange guy was quite literally screaming for help, and after three very trying days, Blaine and I managed to secure him. I brought him inside, got him cleaned up, took him to the vet for his vaccines, and Timmy is now the newest member of our family. He is an absolute nut, and furthermore, he and our dog, Lenny, have formed quite a bond; they’re inseparable, and despite a vast difference in size, they love playing and roughhousing together.

Welcome home, Timmy.
