I take full responsibility and acknowledge my tardiness in getting around to watching arguably one of the best shows in existence, but I figure better delayed than never.

In case the title didn’t give it away, the show in question I am referring to is known as Peaky Blinders, and I’m actually a bit pissed with myself that I went so long in life without allowing myself to experience the pleasure of watching this series.

Alas, at least I finally made it.

Peaky Blinders has been around for a hot minute, and in total, there are six seasons encompassing the series. The star of the show is Tommy, or Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, alongside his brothers Arthur, played by Paul Anderson, John, played by Joe Cole, Finn, played by Harry Kirton, his sister, Ada, played by Sophie Rundle, his cousin Michael, played by Finn Cole, and his Aunt Polly, played by the late Helen McCrory. It takes place in the 1920s in Birmingham, England, following the conclusion of the First World War, and follows Tommy and his family as members and operatives of The Peaky Blinders, a crime gang.

The Peaky Blinders were a real crime gang who were present in Birmingham from the 1880s to the 1910s, and the show is loosely based on them and their exploits.

This show is not for the faint of heart as it is quite violent and gory, but believe me when I tell you it is a phenomenal series. I’m currently on the third season and I can’t get enough; every episode is a masterpiece, and I don’t think a single character could have been cast more perfectly. Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby is spectacular, and anyone who watches the show knows exactly what I mean by that. The man was born to play this role.
