Merry Christmas

In the slim chance you’ve been living under a rock and missed it, today is Christmas Day. I’m not sure how you’re spending today, but I hope it is with people you love in a safe and welcoming space.

I always enjoy Christmas Day, and the main reason I do is because of the traditions my immediate family and I have established to commemorate Christmas. We are often quite busy with gatherings and occasions with extended family in the days leading up to and following Christmas, so on Christmas Day, we always make a point to spend it with each other. In the morning, Blaine and I will go to my parents to enjoy a lovely brunch with my sister and to exchange gifts, and following the exchange we usually relax and sit with one another conversing. After this, Blaine and I head back home to enjoy the rest of the day with one another and our animals.

We celebrated with my mom’s family on the 23 and my dad’s on Christmas Eve, and we will be celebrating with Blaine’s family on Boxing Day. It has been and will continue to be a busy but lovely few days.

I am extremely fortunate in the sense I am able to spend Christmas and the days surrounding it with loved ones, and I acknowledge I am privileged in this sense because it is an opportunity not all of us are fortunate enough to experience. My heart goes out to those spending today in solidarity, as well as those struggling to celebrate for whatever reason.

To anyone reading this, I would like to wish you and yours a wonderful and blessed Christmas and a healthy New Year. I hope you’re able to spend today doing the things that you enjoy and love the most, alongside the people you enjoy and love the most.
