When it comes to driving, kids who were raised on farms arguably have an advantage. It’s basically a right of passage, while being a child living on a farm, to learn how to drive well before the legal age; I’m not making reference to operating vehicles on roadways, but rather, out in large, open fields, which is one of the best places to practice and learn.
I’m no professional, but I can thank my mom and dad, and my sister, for teaching me how to drive well in advance of actually taking my written and road tests. I can’t imagine how truly terrifying it must be for folks who experience driving for the very first time once they begin driving lessons, or school, and furthermore, I can imagine the anxiety this could give to driving teachers and instructors, too.
My first vehicle was a Jeep Liberty, but following that model, and ever since, I’ve driven a truck. I love trucks and I happen to feel a hell of a lot safer in larger vehicles as opposed to small, so I doubt I’ll be converting to anything smaller anytime soon.
I’ve been pulled over once for speeding, but I was fortunate enough to be let off with a warning. I like to think I’m a pretty good driver, but what is somewhat scary to consider is the idea that most of us are arguably under the impression that we, too, are good drivers; this is concerning in the sense that it seems as though every time I leave my home and hit the roads, I witness or experience a near accident thanks to other drivers on the road. A lot of other people seem to be saying the same thing, so I thought I would use today’s post as a bit of a refresher when it comes to driving and the rules of the road.
“Traffic tickets are remarkably easy to receive, which feels like a flaw in the system, but understanding how to get a traffic ticket is the easiest way to avoid getting them. That sounds strange, but we’ve listed the three easiest ways to get hit with a traffic violation – read through them and learn from the mistakes so you’re not guilty of getting slapped with a ticket and a fine!
“Speeding
“Let’s be honest, no one is surprised to see speeding on this list. Most people get traffic tickets as they’re caught speeding. The worst thing is, the majority of tickets are handed out to people who are barely speeding. You don’t need to be driving a Ferrari well over the speed limit to get caught out – if you’re a couple of miles over the limit when you pass a speed camera or a police officer with a speed gun, you’ll be written up.
“This also happens to be the easiest offence to avoid; stick to the speed limit at all times, especially when there are signs for cameras or police officers. Take extra care when driving downhill as you can quickly go over the limit if due to the decline.
“Not Using Signals
“Many drivers are unaware that you can get a ticket for not using your turn signals. This happens when you’re turning down a road, or if you’re changing lanes and neglect to signal. It’s seen as “dangerous driving” as you could easily cause an accident. Someone might not expect you to turn and this causes them to drive into you or hit the back of your car as they weren’t ready for you to slow down suddenly.
“This is one of the hardest tickets to get out of and you’ll need a good traffic ticket lawyer to fight your case if you want to avoid a fine. Ironically, it’s an offense you should never commit. Get into the habit of signaling before you deviate from a straight line at all times. It’s especially important when changing lanes or turning at junctions.
“Ignoring Stop Signs
“Stop signs exist for a reason. They’re strategically positioned in places where accidents are likely to happen if drivers are careless. When you see a stop sign, you are legally required to come to a complete stop! Even when there are no other cars on the road, you must stop your car completely before venturing out.
“If you’re caught not stopping at a stop sign, you’ll get a traffic ticket. It’s probably the harshest one as people usually get penalized when there’s no danger – which is why they didn’t stop. Force yourself to stop whenever you see a stop sign just in case someone is watching and you get hit with a ticket. It’s a hard one to get out of even with legal help, so avoid getting yourself into this situation.
“The bottom line is this: traffic tickets are easy to pick up, but they’re even easier to avoid. Don’t get caught out or you’ll end up with big fines!”
