I believe I mentioned how I recently wrapped up watching all three seasons of Bridgerton, meaning I had to find something new to watch. I contemplated rewatching one of my familiar favourites, like Vikings or The Last Kingdom, and while these shows will arguably be some of my top picks for the remainder of my life, I ultimately decided to push myself and try watching something entirely new.
This same decision is what allowed me to discover Bridgerton, so I like to think this new mindset will pay off in terms of continually finding new wonderful shows to watch.
The Boys is a series I’ve considered watching more than once, and just haven’t gotten around to actually clicking ‘play’ on the title. Since I was searching for something new to watch, I figured now is as good a time as any, and currently, I’m about halfway through the first season.
I have some catching up to do, seeing as there are currently four seasons, but so far, I am enjoying it. I will say that this series is not for the faint of heart by any means; it is damn gory, disgusting, harsh, crude, vulgar, and borderline barbaric. I’m not going to lie – there have been a few scenes in which I’ve had to turn away because they truly are that revolting, and yes, I have a strong stomach.
If you think this series is just about superheroes, you could not be more wrong. I wouldn’t blame you for thinking this, because I was under the same impression; I don’t want to ruin the plot for anyone, but trust me when I say this series is a lot more complex than what you might initially think in terms of the roles of the superheroes and their antics.
I have no clue what’s to come, but I imagine it will be entertaining.
