Enough with the entitlement

I’m not entirely sure what the hell has happened to us as a collective society within the span of the past few years, but it certainly isn’t good. I think perhaps using COVID as a reference point helps me attempt to designate when we all started acting and behaving like childish, demanding assholes, and that’s arguably a result of the pandemic encouraging all of us to become the most selfish version of ourselves possible in the context of the vaccinated versus the unvaccinated.

It quite literally seems as though I encounter an entitled prick on a daily basis, and, allow me to stipulate I don’t venture too far from the farm; it’s almost as if you can’t avoid it no matter how desperately you try, and it’s honestly beginning to take an unpleasant toll on me, and I’m positive others.

My mom told me she had a doctor’s appointment the other day; she was running a few minutes behind because she got stuck behind a garbage truck, and traffic, as always, was heavy. She was roughly five minutes late arriving at her appointment, and upon walking up to the receptionist to let her know she was present, the woman working, without even looking at my mom or offering a hello, barked out “You’re late.”

My mom, understandably, was a bit taken aback, and she said the doctor she saw soon after was not much better in terms of manners or basic kindness.

Entitlement is out of control, and it’s only going to continue to worsen because no one seems to be calling these awful people out on their bullshit. Why are we allowing this decline in humanity? Why are we deeming it as acceptable, or, even worse, normal?

We all have bad days, but they tend to be singular, not consecutive. If you’re going out of your way to be a dick, take a good look in the mirror and check yourself. Please.
