I can’t exactly say I anticipated writing a post about Windex and the different formats it comes in, but here we are. As I’ve mentioned a few times here on my blog, sometimes it can be quite challenging to come up with ideas I haven’t yet written about, so when one hits me with inspiration, regardless of its ridiculousness, I tend to run with it.
When it comes to glass cleaners, I would wager most of us use Windex. It’s arguably the most popular brand in the glass cleaning product game, and it works well. I’ve always used the spray version, but I spotted some Windex Wipes recently and figured I would give them a try to see how they measure up against the classic spray with some paper towel.
I’ve used the wipes to clean the appropriate surfaces in our home twice now, and upon first glance, I was thoroughly impressed. There were no streaks and no residue, and I enjoyed using the wipes because they weren’t as messy as using a spray and paper towel. I suppose the wipes are also a bit less wasteful because you don’t have to use a paper towel. However, after a couple of days and a difference in lighting, I did notice that anywhere I used the wipes had quite a few streaks, and, furthermore, were covered in little white specks that had come off of the wipes while using them.
I have to say that the spray version of Windex seems to be more effective in terms of actually cleaning glass and not leaving behind a light smattering of snow. Perhaps the wipes would be better used for quick, smaller jobs here and there, but overall, I have to say Windex spray absolutely trumps the wipes version. Feel free to try out both and see if you prefer one over the other.
