Do your duty and vote

If you’re Canadian, you’re arguably aware of the upcoming Federal election to name the future Prime Minister of this country. Before we delve into the meat and potatoes of this post, allow me to clarify that I am not, in any way, shape or form, interested in your political party or candidate of choice. Politics are personal, and your political preferences are no one’s business but your own. The topic of politics can also be an incredibly controversial one, hence why I would rather remain ignorant of everyone’s choices.

Regardless of who you specifically vote for, the purpose of this post is to encourage Canadians to do just this – vote. I’m not sure if Canada has ever been more politically divided than it is right now, which is why your vote matters and absolutely counts in the grand scheme of things.

I find it infuriating when I encounter individuals who are more than willing to bitch and complain about the person or party leading this country yet do not vote themselves. How can you expect your opinions to be relevant when you did not participate in voting? It makes absolutely zero sense, and it’s an incredibly hypocritical way to approach politics, in my own humble opinion.

If you give a single shit about the current state of Canada, or its future, for that matter, please do your damn duty and vote. It would also be beneficial to educate oneself about each political candidate and party prior to casting your vote, and while I find it sad I even have to stipulate this, I quite literally personally know people who approach voting this way.

Please vote in this upcoming election. You might not think so, but your vote really does matter and has an impact. It’s our responsibility to have a say in the future of this country.
