Rest peacefully, sweet Remi

This past Monday was a rough one for my family and me. My parents have three dogs, all of which are Australian Blue Heelers, and they’re quite literally our world. Blue is the oldest and is a male, and Finn and Remi are one year younger and are biological sisters. Blue is five, and the girls are four.

Australian Cattle Dogs are high-energy and require a lot of stimulation throughout their days. They’re fiercely loyal and ridiculously stubborn which makes for an interesting combination, and, sometimes, they do things they shouldn’t. They’re tough as nails and and love hard, and our sweet Remi was no exception. Her life was cut far too short on Monday, and our family is undeniably feeling her absence.

I wanted to dedicate a post to Remi in her memory and tell you all a little bit about her. Her actual name was Remington, so we shortened it to Remi, and she was by far the sweetest out of the three in terms of wanting constant cuddles, love and affection. Finn and Blue also love these same things, but Remi was an absolute love bug who easily could have spent her days enjoying hugs and belly rubs.

Remi was unique in the sense that she actually looked more like a Doberman than a Blue Heeler. She was average-sized, weighing roughly 40 pounds, and she and her sister had matching spots on their backs – Remi’s was black on her grey coat, whereas Finn’s spot is brown on her red coat.

Remi loved to play and be silly with her siblings, and she would often worm around on the ground, a trait my family and I named ‘landsharking.’ She is so missed, and while I know she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and that I’ll see her again someday, my family, our dogs, and I are hurting.

Rest peacefully, sweet Remi.
