I recently shared an Instagram reel with a couple of people, and not for good reasons. Watching this Reel, I was absolutely appalled by the narration provided by @yourbestiemisha; in the Reel, he describes a situation he was directly involved in, and it struck a nerve with me, personally.
This kind lad begins the Reel by explaining how this event had just happened prior to him filming. He is sitting in his vehicle, soaking wet because it was pouring rain outside, explaining how, while driving back home, he noticed many vehicles ahead of him swerving to avoid something on the road. He says he figured it was debris of some sort, but upon getting closer to this supposed garbage, he realized, in shock, that it was an elderly man, lying in the middle of the road in a downpour.
The man who uploaded the video explains how he was absolutely horrified when he realized it was a person who cars were swerving around, and quickly pulled over and exited his vehicle to assist the gentleman. One other man stopped to help, and together, these two good people pulled this man off the road, placed him back in his wheelchair (which was visibly right beside him on the road), and moved him to a safe area. The man who posted the video asked the man how long he had been lying there, to which the elderly man replied roughly ten minutes.
For ten minutes, people driving ignored this man in distress and left him lying in the middle of the fucking road, soaking wet, and out of all of the vehicles that passed him, only two stopped to help.
What the hell has happened to us as people? I cannot fathom seeing someone so vulnerable and in danger and choosing to ignore them.
Where has humanity gone?
