Is your home feeling a litte drab? Try this simple trick

While I positively and undoubtedly identify as a creature of habit, and not someone who enjoys spontaneity for the most part, I will say that I tend to get a little bored with my surroundings after an extended period of time. When I was a kid, I used to beg my mom to let me move some furniture around in my bedroom to make it feel new and exciting, and while she wasn’t against the idea, the issue at hand was moving my 800-pound solid wood dressers each and every time I addressed the matter with her.

Needless to say, I didn’t rearrange my room too often as a child.

Now that I am an ‘adult’ (lol) and have my own place with my husband, I’ve been feeling the itch to make some changes in our home as of late. Nothing drastic; I’m not meaning I want an entire paint refresh and all new furniture, because that’s rather wasteful and costly. Rather, I’m referencing a little trick I’ve used a handful of times in my life that can arguably provide you with the change you’ve been seeking in your home without breaking the bank or your back.

You might think it sounds too good to be true, but the concept of rearranging can make a tremendous difference in a space or in an entire home. If you want to move rooms around, with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom, because that’s a shit ton of work, Godspeed, brother. But, on a smaller and more reasonable scale, something as simple as moving artwork and furniture around really can breathe new life into a stuffy, dated space. It doesn’t cost you anything, it isn’t unattainable in terms of the work involved, and if you do it right, you very well could feel as though you’re in an entirely new space.
