What’s your favourite makeup hack? (part one)

I will be honest and admit that while I used to be someone who wore makeup religiously, I no longer am that person. For context, I used to work as a journalist and was expected to appear professional and put together while working. Upon leaving this job to return home to the family farm, I stopped wearing makeup, seeing as chickens don’t give two fucks what you look like. So, I’m now at a point in my life that when I do wear makeup, I almost can’t tolerate the sensation of it on my skin.

Blaine and I attended his work’s Christmas party a few days ago, and because it is a semi-formal event, I opted to look put-together and put on some makeup. I wore a turtleneck and was trying to figure out how to prevent my makeup from transferring onto the neck, and upon finding on Google that hairspray can prevent this transfer, I started contemplating the many makeup hacks in existence and figured I would share some for anyone interested. This information comes from goodhousekeeping.com.

“Powder your lashes. The key to fluffier and fuller lashes? A little translucent powder. After your first coat of mascara, dust your lashes with a gentle coat of loose powder — this will add volume to your eyelashes by making them look thicker. Add a second coat of mascara to cover the dustiness, and you’ll see the difference for yourself.

“Apply concealer in a triangle. Instead of dotting concealer under your eyes, apply in (an) upside down triangle to brighten any dark circles and draw attention up to your pupils.

“Learn how to apply eyeliner to complement your eye shape. Everyone’s eyes are different — so that means everyone’s eyeliner should be drawn on a little bit differently, too. First, figure out your eye shape (hooded eyes, downturned eyes, monolid eyes, or round eyes), then learn the best eyeliner to use and the right way to apply it to make your eyes stand out,” the web page states.

Check back tomorrow for part two.
