My sister has been a more-than-loyal iTunes patron for as long as I can remember. Arguably, for as long as smartphones have been in existence, because rather than taking the shitty route and using Limewire to illegally download music and absolutely mutilate our parents’ computer with viruses like me, she opted for the moral choice and instead purchased all of her music through iTunes.
She’s always been the favourite child. It isn’t terribly difficult to designate why, with this particular example.
Every now and then, I’ll mention to my sister a movie I haven’t seen in a very long time, only for her to inform me she’s owned it for eons now because of iTunes. She often says she wishes she could share her iTunes purchases with me, and while neither she nor I ever bothered to actually look into the matter, as it turns out, you can, and it’s called Family Sharing. Check out the following information on the matter from support.apple.com.
“When the family organizer turns on Purchase Sharing and the members enable the feature for their devices, they get access to each other’s shared content. The family organizer pays for everyone’s purchases unless they turn off Purchase Sharing or other adult family members use their own payment method to make purchases.* When a family member makes a purchase on their device, the family organizer might need to verify the payment method by entering the CVV.
“Turn on Purchase Sharing on your iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app, then tap Family.
- Tap Purchase Sharing.
- Tap your name, then turn on Share My Purchases and follow the onscreen instructions.
“To confirm the payment method, tap Purchase Sharing again and check the Shared Payment Method information. This becomes the family organizer’s default payment method,” the web page explains.
