Diamond art: yay or nay?

If you consider yourself to be crafty to any extent, or, actually, even if you don’t, there is a strong probability that you have at least heard the term ‘diamond art.’ If you haven’t, don’t stress – in my own words, diamond art is a method of crafting that is similar to a paint-by-number activity; instead of using paint to colour in the associated number on a canvas, with diamond art, you’re using coloured rhinestones.

Diamond art is not a new concept, but I do think it has gained popularity in the past few years. Quite a few of my girlfriends on my rugby team enjoy it, so I figured I would order a kit of some sort and give it a try.

The link for the particular kit I ordered can be found here, but there are an abundance of them in existence, and you can find just about any pattern, design or creation your heart desires.

I am loving diamond art so far, and I have three different colours of gems left before I complete my first creation. The kit I ordered comes with all of the ‘diamonds’ necessary to create the final product, and then some; a chain and a suction thingy to attach it to a window if I so desire; a wand, which is what you use to place the diamonds in their designated spots; and a piece of wax, which is what you apply to the end of the wand to ensure the diamonds easily adhere to it. Don’t make the mistake I did and not see the included wax and instead resort to violently jamming stones onto the wand’s end.

It’s a rather relaxing activity, and it doesn’t require a whole lot of brain power. Some of my friends do it while watching television or a movie, whereas I prefer to do it while listening to some music or an audiobook.

Give diamond art a try, my friends.
