Yay or nay: Cake Beauty’s Do Gooder Volumizing & Style Extending Dry Shampoo

I will be entirely transparent and admit that I arguably do not wash my hair as often as I should, especially since I live and work on a farm. I’m not a foul, uncleansed beast by any means, but because my hair is rather long, washing it is a bit of an ordeal I would prefer to prolong for as long as hygienically possible.

I’ve tried a handful of different dry shampoos over the years, but I stopped using them because most of them contain harsh and damaging chemicals. So, when I spotted a version of it from Cake Beauty, a Canadian company I love and enjoy and that does not make use of toxic shit, I deemed it necessary to try.

The Cake Do Gooder Volumizing & Style Extending Dry Shampoo costs roughly $12, making it rather affordable, and like most of Cake Beauty’s products, it smells heavenly. Here is a description of the product from its Amazon page:

“VOLUMIZING DRY SHAMPOO: Instantly renew your hair & leave it feeling clean, revived & volumized. This volumizing dry shampoo adds natural oil-absorbing ingredients & leaves zero white residue!

“RESIDUE FREE QUICK CLEANING: Use it as a quick fix or to add extra volume! Turn humdrum second-day hair into bombshell hair, without the harsh chemicals. Give your busy mornings a revamp, no water required.

“VEGAN & CRUELTY-FREE: Our gorgeous formulations don’t harm so much as a hair on a bunny’s head. We are certified as both cruelty-free & vegan by PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies. No animal testing ever.

“SUPERNATURAL BEAUTY: We pour in the high performing natural ingredients you love, & none of the stuff that you don’t. (That’s a big no-no-way-not-ever to parabens, phthalates, sulfates, & talc.),” according to Amazon.

Is this stuff volumizing? Yes. Does it do a great job at actually cleaning my hair? Unfortunately, it does not. As much as I love Cake Beauty, I wouldn’t recommend this product.
