I believe it is fair to argue that most persons have been associated with someone or something in their life that leaves a lingering presence of toxic energy.
By toxic energy, I am referring to a person or thing that has a constant negative energy affiliated with them. When you are in contact with such person or thing, the negative vibes being exuded from them interferes with your own happiness, and leaves you feeling pessimistic yourself.
As of late, I have truly come to terms with the implications of having someone or something in your life that is toxic. It is so important to acknowledge and recognize the source of such negative energy in your own life, and to furthermore remove yourself from its presence.
Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. Often times, the source of the toxic energy in your own life is difficult to avoid or remove, meaning it can be quite stressful and exhausting to determine a way to deal with the issue. It is likely easier to remove a toxic thing from your life as opposed to a toxic person, but it is essential to realize that both can be done.
When it comes to toxic people, the most important thing to keep in mind is distance. If you are able to isolate yourself from the toxic individual, you are one step closer to maintaining a more consistent presence of happiness and optimism in your life. Remove such person from your life in all ways possible, whether it be via social media or in-person interactions. It may be difficult at first, but over time you will begin to realize that it is achievable.
Your own happiness is not worth the cost of pleasing other individuals. Always put yourself first when it comes to toxic energy or persons in your life. If you fear upsetting persons by removing someone toxic from your life, perhaps they are toxic as well if they are unable to comprehend your reasoning for wanting to be a more optimistic and joyful person. Simply look ahead and set a goal to be the happiest person you can be.
