Product Review: Cover FXs The Perfect Light Highlighting Powder

Highlighters, in the context of cosmetics, have always been something that intimidates me. I simply have a difficult time visualizing myself wearing a blinding highlight across my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose, and because I already have oily skin, I have tried my best to shy away from highlighters in fear of intensifying the pre-existing shine on my face.

I was in Sephora a couple of days ago as I needed to pick up the Cover FX bronzer and their mattifying setting powder. In the Cover FX display section, there was a highlighter that caught my eye, and after swatching it on my hand I decided, hey, why not, and purchased it.

A word of warning; Cover FX products are not cheap, and this pressed highlighter retails for $42.00. That being said, Cover FX is a brand I use religiously, because all of their products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil, talc, and are vegan. I picked up this highlighter in the shade Moonlight, and I am quite surprised at how much I am enjoying how this highlighter sits on the skin. It is extremely subtle, which is something I appreciate, and according to its description on the Sephora website, it is “a creamy texture that is ultra-blendable and doesn’t look dry, this powder contains ultra-fine pearls to ensure a refined glow that doesn’t look glittery on the skin.”

I think part of the reason I have stayed away from highlighters for so long is because a majority of the ones I have seen being used by beauty YouTubers and in advertisements in quite literally blinding, and I prefer a more natural look when it comes to my makeup routine. To each their own, of course, however, I really enjoy this highlighter from Cover FX because it is subtle and can be worn daily without seeming too overpowering.

I give this product a thumbs up!
