Product Review: Cover FX Mattifying Setting Spray

Personally, I have never been a huge fan of cosmetic setting sprays. I have experimented with several different types of setting sprays throughout my makeup-wearing career, and after trying the Cover FX Mattifying Setting Spray I can say with complete honesty that this particular setting spray is the best I have used thus far.

This product is available at Sephora stores and on the Sephora website, and it retails for $40.00. I use several different Cover FX products, and the brand itself is quite pricey, but its ingredients are stellar: This product is vegan, clinically tested, and free of fragrance, gluten, mineral oil, and talc.”

According to the Sephora website, this setting spray is:

“An alcohol-free, quick-drying matte setting spray that instantly sets and secures makeup for all-day wear, reduces shine, and minimizes the look of pores.”

For me personally, this setting spray does not last all day, however, I have very oily skin. It certainly helps to control the oil on my skin for several hours after I apply it, but on long days I do have to re-apply.

More on this product:

This alcohol-free setting spray instantly mists on a matte effect, while giving your makeup serious staying power. The ultra-fine mist application delivers a weightless, long-wearing matte finish while absorbing surface shine and minimizing the look of pores. Use it throughout the day for an instant matte touch up as needed.”

Again, I disagree with this statement because this product does not last all day for me, but it certainly could for someone with less oily skin.

In a consumer study on participants after 7 days:
– 93% said it gave their skin a more radiant appearance
– 80% of participants said it helped their makeup last all day
– 90% of participants said it felt lightweight, dried quickly, and was comfortable on skin all day, without feeling sticky or greasy
– 84% said it made their makeup instantly feel set and secure”

I can attest to the fact that this setting spray feels lightweight and dries quickly, and one of the main reason I enjoy it is because it does not irritate my skin. If you’re looking for a new setting spray, consider trying this one, and let me know your thoughts!
