Product Review: Tarte’s 4-in-1 Rainforest of the Sea Collection Setting Mist

I received the Tarte 4-in-1 Setting Mist from the Rainforest of the Sea Collection for Christmas from one of my cousins, and because I am so profoundly impressed with it, I wanted to review it here on my blog. This product is available from the Sephora website and also Tarte’s website, and retails at Sephora for $30.00 for  2.5 oz bottle.

According to Sephora, this product acts as a primer, setting spray, hydrating mist, and a skin refresher, all simultaneously. It is categorized overall as a multipurpose setting spray and claims to lock makeup in place for 12 hours. It contains algae which are high in antioxidants to aid in smoothing fine lines, wrinkles, and reducing the appearance of pores. It does not contain parabens or phthalates, and is furthermore vegan, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested.

I wouldn’t say that this product prevents my face from becoming shiny for 12 consecutive hours, however, it keeps my face matte for far longer than any other primer ever has. I wore it several days after receiving it as a gift under my makeup, and I was blown away by how much longer my skin was free of shine. Prior to experimenting with the product, I would have to blot my face throughout the day, and while wearing this product I usually only blot my face once, typically in the evening after wearing makeup for several hours. I have yet to try this product as a setting spray, but to wear it as a primer I spritz it all over my face and massage it into the skin with my fingertips. I allow the mist to dry down to a tacky consistency and then proceed with my makeup application.

If you’re looking for a new primer to sample and you have very oily skin like me, I highly recommend this product. It is the best primer I have tried yet.
