Product review: OGX Tea Tree and Mint Shampoo

If you read my blog regularly, it’s probable that you have caught onto the fact that I experiment with shampoo fairly often.

I have been using the Dove anti-dandruff shampoo, which is fine, but I was feeling a change and decided to pick up something new when I was at Shoppers Drug Mart last.

I figured I would go with the OGX Tea Tree and Mint shampoo. I think it may be relatively new, as I haven’t seen it before, and the price was right as it was on sale. I didn’t get the conditioner because I’ve been using my L’Oreal mask, but if I ever do decide to give the conditioner a try, I’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Here is the shampoo’s description on the OGX website:

“Re-energize your hair with this blend of active ingredients. Australian tea tree oils, milk proteins and micro-infused peppermint help to strengthen and moisturize while bringing balance to your scalp. A three-in-one treat in one refreshing formula.”

If I’m being totally honest, I was a little reluctant to purchase this because I wasn’t sure how it would smell. Tea tree oil, as fantastic as it is for various reasons, doesn’t smell the greatest, and I definitely didn’t want to be walking around smelling like an apothecary.

Rest assured, this shampoo doesn’t smell like tea tree oil. It has the slightest hint of tea tree oil in its scent, but if anything, the mint is the smell that stands out.

This stuff lathers up incredibly well, meaning you don’t need a lot, and I find it to almost refresh, or revitalize my scalp. No tingles or anything, but my hair feels super clean after I wash it with this stuff. My hair looks and feels soft and healthy, and I haven’t experienced any irritation from this product thus far.

Give it a try, folks. It’s a good one.
