The beauty of blogging

To the best of my recollection, I believe I have had my blog going strong for at least five years now. There is a solid chance I’ve been blogging longer than five years, but I don’t really feel like scrolling all the way back to my very first post – this would take hours and I’m not necessarily sure it’s worth doing solely to learn when exactly I first launched ontheedgeofeverything.

I started this blog when I was at university, and the reason I did so was to keep my writing skills up to par. I deemed it beneficial to write short blog posts on a daily basis covering purely arbitrary topics, and while my blog is nowhere near where it needs to be in regard to making some decent coin from it, it is justifying to see how much my audience has grown since first launching it all those years ago.

Believe me when I say there are days I struggle to find the motivation to not only come up with a new post idea, but further, to actually compose said post. It’s far too easy to get in my own head and list a dozen reasons as to why I shouldn’t blog on a given day, but no matter how begrudging the journey, I always manage to pump out a post. There was a stretch of four days or so back in June in which, for the first time ever, I did not have daily posts, however, this period was right after I married Blaine and life was a little chaotic.

When I’m really not in the mood to blog, I contemplate all of my readers who expect a new post early each morning, and this is my biggest motivation; I ain’t about to let anyone down. It is rewarding to know there are people who avidly read my blog posts and enjoy doing so, and this, to me, truly encapsulates the beauty of blogging as a practice.
