Give in to your inner child

During one of the last storms we had, a swing of sorts blew out of one of the trees on the property Blaine and I live on. The swing in question has seen better days – I’m pretty sure it was composed using nothing but ratchet straps, twine and sticks, but considering we have absolutely no clue how long this swing has been in existence, let alone who installed it, it really isn’t in the worst shape fathomable.

After having dinner a couple of nights ago, Blaine decided to sit in the swing, and soon after, I was pushing him like a child. He was laughing and giggling like a kid, and based on his reaction, I knew I wanted a turn. We switched, and Blaine actually started pushing me on the swing, and I got some serious height.

The moment Blaine first started pushing me on this swing, it was like I was a child again, swinging my damn heart out on the blue, wooden swing set I spent countless hours on as a kid at my parent’s farm. It was, quite literally, like I was transported back in time; the feeling of swinging through the air, laughing like a damn idiot and acting like a kid allowed me, for a moment, to forget all about the problems in life and just live in the moment, like a kid, and have some simple fun.

This might be a little corny, but it was probably the most fun I’ve had in a while.

As adults, we get so caught up in daily life that we honestly forget how to live. We unintentionally prevent ourselves from having fun because of duties and responsibilities, and while both of these components are intricate components of adulthood, they don’t prevent us from acting like kids every now and then and having an absolute blast.

Give into your inner child. I doubt you will regret it.
