I’m a bit of a recluse when it comes to modern-day music. Part of the reason I’m not terribly savvy with up-and-coming artists and new music is because the radio in my truck gets two stations – one is static and the other is in Spanish. So, whenever I’m driving, I listen to music via my own Spotify account and Bluetooth.
The other reason I don’t keep up with current music, specifically rock and country, is because I’m a fan of the oldies, and I don’t love how modern-day country music and rock music sound.
While having lunch with her recently, my sister asked me if I was familiar with Bailey Zimmerman, a country music artist. I told her I wasn’t, and she proceeded to play me a few songs of his, and it didn’t take long for me to become hooked.
Check out the following blurb, which I pulled from the ‘about’ page of www.baileyzimmermanmusic.com:
“As a spellbinding storyteller, sharp songwriter, powerhouse performer and history-making, platinum-certified phenomenon, Bailey Zimmerman has personified the American dream from the get-go. And now, with the release of his full-length debut LP, Religiously. The Album. (Warner Music Nashville/Elektra), this young artist with the rasp of a seasoned rocker and the heart of a sensitive songwriter surges to the forefront of 21st century country music and arrives at the cusp of superstardom.“
The man is 23 years young and hails from Louisville, Illinois. According to his Wikipedia page, prior to becoming famous, Bailey worked in the meat-packing industry and also for a union gas pipeline.
I love Bailey’s sound, and he somewhat reminds me a little bit of Kip Moore in regard to his music blending both rock and country elements. I imagine this guy is going to do well, and I sincerely hope so as I’m looking forward to hearing more of his music.
