Have a cold? Read this

The past few weeks have not been the best for my family. My dad caught a cold about a month ago now; in the beginning, he thought it was a mere head cold as he mainly had congestion and fatigue as symptoms. He was under the impression he was getting better, then my mom caught it. Shortly after my mom fell sick, my dad ended up becoming more sick with a different bug, which then claimed my sister. My sister thinks hers may have progressed into walking pneumonia, and Blaine is now not feeling great.

So far, I’m the last man standing, and while I sincerely hope it doesn’t, the status of this could change quickly seeing as all four of the main people in my life have the plague. It’s actually a bit ironic I’m the only one who isn’t sick, seeing as I have the worst immune system out of anyone in my family.

I’m not sick yet, and I hope I don’t catch what my family and Blaine have, but in case I do, and because quite a few folks are battling out bugs and viruses right now, I thought I would share some of my tried and true tips for helping to kick a cold to the curb. I’m not a medical professional, and these tricks might not do a damn thing for you, but they’ve helped me in the past, and I hope they can do the same for you.

  1. Use oregano oil. This stuff is harsher than moonshine, but it works. Put a few drops in a glass of water and drink this a few times a day when you first feel a cold coming on.
  2. Detox. I realize this option is not applicable to everyone, but my infrared sauna is phenomenal for forcing crap out of the body.
  3. Hard liquor. My dad taught me this, and he swears by it – if you start experiencing cold and flu symptoms, take a shot of whiskey or vodka.

Best of luck, my friends.
