How do you dress your baked potato?

If you happened to laugh when you read the title of today’s post, I wouldn’t be surprised, nor would I be offended. I wouldn’t say conversation pertaining to baked potatoes and our dressing preferences for them are a highly sought-after topic of conversation, but I still figure it’s worth chatting about.

Initially, I was planning on dedicating this post to a recipe of some sort. I started to peruse the internet to see what looked enticing, and I actually ended up coming across a recipe containing several mini-recipes, if you will, sharing different ideas for dressing a baked potato.

It snagged my interest, and here we are.

Baked potatoes are phenomenal in the sense they offer a shit load of versatility with what you choose to put on them, making them a perfect option to feed large crowds – everyone is happy so long as their desired toppings are available. But, aside from the traditional cheddar cheese, sour cream, bacon and green onions, why not get creative and make a true masterpiece out of your baked potato?

Some of my own ideas for baked potato topping variations include:

For a Mexican-inspired baked potato, try adding jalapenos, queso, corn and some crumbled tortilla chips.

For a Greek-inspired baked potato, use feta cheese, tzatziki and some red onion.

For a southern-style baked potato, try using some barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese and baked beans.

Hell, you could even go with a Philly cheesesteak baked potato so long as you have the necessary materials available. Throw on some thinly sliced steak, provolone cheese, and some salt and pepper.

I suppose I failed to realize the versatility baked potatoes offer myself, but writing this post has certainly inspired me to try out some new flavour variations the next time I’m graced with one.

Potatoes really can do it all.
