Fast Food apps: Are they worth using?

Fast food and I have what I like to call a delayed relationship. Growing up, my mom tried her best to keep my sister and me away from fast food because it isn’t necessarily the healthiest, and while I can appreciate my mom’s intentions, I still felt a bit deprived of fast food when I was a wee youngin’. Therefore, present-day, in my adult years, I’ve consumed more fast food than I ever have, and I am positively fucking loving it.

Blaine and I enjoy fast food maybe once a week, but usually once every couple of weeks. I visited a close friend of mine a few weeks ago and offered to pick up some dinner, and because we agreed on something quick and easy, McDonald’s was the obvious choice. My friend asked me if I used the McDonald’s app, to which I replied I don’t, and she strongly encouraged me to download it because Blaine and I eat McDonald’s a couple of times a month.

To be honest, when my friend told me it was worth downloading the McDonald’s app, I did not believe her whatsoever. But, I obliged for this particular order she and I enjoyed, and then I forgot to delete the app off of my phone. I just recently remembered I had downloaded it, opened it up out of curiosity, and was positively delighted to learn that the order for my friend and I had earned me enough points that I’m eligible to enjoy a free McDouble, which is my go-to choice.

I’m eating humble pie, to say the least.

Now that I’ve gotten into the habit of using the app each time I order McDonald’s, I can absolutely say that the McDonald’s app is worth downloading. I haven’t tried other fast food apps, but I imagine they’re all relatively similar in terms of points and offers you can redeem.
