Have you visited Pies and Tarts from the Heart?

A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to meet a friend for coffee who I don’t have the pleasure of seeing nearly as often as I would like. She and I have known each other our entire lives and grew up together; she is actually the reason I started playing rugby, and that is a debt I will never be able to repay.

She moved out West a few years ago, so when she informed me she was home visiting and had some flexibility in her schedule, I was positively delighted, and we quickly made plans to meet up. We agreed to meet at a little local restaurant in Scotland, Ontario, called Pies and Tarts from the Heart, and while neither of us had actually visited the store location, I’ve sampled their incredible baked goods before, so I knew it was a great choice.

We ended up having coffee together, although Pies and Tarts from the Heart have a variety of baked goods and other tasty treats to enjoy, such as croissants, muffins, danishes, etc., meaning you can absolutely have a lighter meal while visiting. I wanted to grab some goodies to bring home, and I ended up getting a croissant for my sister, a piece of carrot cake for my mom, a tiger brownie for Blaine, and a Rocky Road caramel brownie for my dad. Everything was delicious, according to the census taken shortly after delivering said products to my family members, and I really enjoyed the coffee, too, as it was their house chestnut blend, if I recall correctly.

Everything available for purchase is made from scratch, and you can tell. The sweets and treats from Pies and Tarts from the Heart will knock your socks off, plus, the shop carries a few items from other local vendors, so you can feel great about supporting locals.
