Have you been to Wentworth Medieval Faire?

When my sister and I were a lot younger, we would often visit medieval and Renaissance fairs courtesy of my mom and our aunt. My mom’s sister and her kids (my cousins) would usually accompany us, and we had a hell of a time. If I had to guess, we probably visited one every summer for a few consecutive years; once we got a little older and busier with activities, though, we stopped going nearly as often.

I haven’t heard of any Renaissance or medieval festivals for a few years now, so I was positively delighted when my mom and sister informed me they heard of one coming to Ancaster, Ontario. This past weekend, my mom and I went and experienced the Wentworth Medieval Faire for the first time, and we had a blast.

Here is a descriptive blurb about the Fair, from its website:

“Experience the excitement and wonder of the Middle Ages in a festival like no other. Held at the grand Ancaster Fairgrounds (near Hamilton, Ontario), this event will transport you back in time to a world of knights, princesses, and medieval marvels. The Wentworth Medieval Faire is an unforgettable event that you won’t want to miss. Experience the magic of the Middle Ages and create memories that will last a lifetime.”

My mom and I couldn’t believe how many vendors were present, and while we unfortunately weren’t able to see the jousting, we did enjoy some live Nordic music. We were both furthermore thoroughly impressed with the turnout – there were a lot of people at this event, and keep in mind my mom and I only went for one afternoon for a couple of hours.

My mom grabbed a few neat items, and I ended up purchasing an absolutely wicked-looking dagger. I definitely recommend visiting the Wentworth Medieval Fair if you haven’t yet, and they have a few more events coming up this year if you’re interested.
