Looking for a simple dinner recipe? Read this

More often than not, I find myself scrambling to figure out what to make for dinner and get it on the table for me and my husband. It’s difficult to attempt to allot enough time to cook when two adults in one home both work full-time, so occasionally, my meals are not as elaborate as I would like them to be.

My husband is happy with anything I prepare, so the issue lies with me and my own standards.

Considering a lot of people can relate to feeling rushed when it comes to cooking, I thought I would share a recipe I made a few nights ago because it is simple and doesn’t require a tremendous amount of prep. It’s filling, delicious, and a crowd-pleaser, so feel free to give it a go in your own home and see how it works out.

Lauren’s Bacon Pasta

You will need (to serve two people with plenty of leftovers):

  • One package or box of whatever sort of noodles you prefer (I used spaghetti)
  • One package of thick-cut bacon, preferably local
  • Two tbsps of salt
  • One tbsp of pepper
  • One tbsp of Hungarian paprika
  • One tbsp of Italian herb mix
  • One tbsp of onion powder
  • One tbsp of garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup of Cheese Whiz (don’t knock it until you try it)

Begin by filling a large pot with water and one tbsp of your salt. Place on your stove, on high heat, until it reaches a rolling boil, at which point you can turn the heat down to medium and add your noodles, stirring regularly for the first few minutes.

While your noodles are cooking, place your bacon on a baking sheet with either parchment paper or tin foil under the bacon. Place in the oven at 400 degrees F for about ten minutes, check it, and bake for another 10-12 minutes, until the bacon is crispy.

Once your noodles are cooked, strain the water but leave a small amount of the pasta water in the pot. Set aside, and once your bacon is done, remove from the oven and allow to cool before breaking it up into small pieces with your fingers.

Next, add your bacon to your noodles, all of your remaining spices, and your Cheeze Whiz. Turn the heat down to low until everything is melted and blended evenly, and enjoy.
