Before anyone decides to judge me for dressing my dog in a onesie, please hear me out. If you read yesterday’s post, you will know that our dog, Lenny, was recently hit on the road by a trailer; the incident was entirely her fault, not to sound too harsh, but we are extremely fortunate and blessed to have her here with us – banged up and extremely sore, but alive.
Lenny is exceptionally lucky to have only deep tissue bruising and some scrapes and road rash as opposed to internal organ damage or broken bones. But, because she has a decent amount of road rash on her legs and paws, she has started to lick them, and while I don’t blame her for doing so, I have to prevent it from happening, otherwise her wounds could become infected. Our vet recommended some dog pyjamas, and when I searched for some on Amazon, the first thing that came up was actually a onesie for dogs post-surgery.
I ordered the Onesie for Dogs After Surgery Dog Recovery Suit and paid $30, which I think is reasonable. This onesie is fantastic in the sense that it covers a dog’s legs right down to their paws, meaning they’re not able to lick at any wounds on their front or back legs. Furthermore, this onesie has an opening that allows dogs to easily relieve themselves without having to remove the entire thing every time. The material is quite soft and thin, meaning a dog wearing it shouldn’t overheat, and while Lenny is not a fan of the attire, it has absolutely stopped her from licking at her sores.
If you’re looking for a onesie for a pup, regardless of whether they’ve had surgery or not, this one is an excellent option. It comes in a few different adorable patterns and colours to boot.
