NASCAR and motorsports have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, thanks to my dad. He has a passion for mechanics, motorsports, classic cars and pulling tractors, to name a few, and he had me in his cars as soon as I was old enough when I was a kid. He has a beautiful personal collection, including a pulling tractor, and he even went so far as to be NASCAR certified by enrolling in the Tom Petty driving course in Florida.
The man is a bit of a legend.
NASCAR was on our television growing up more often than not, so you can bet your ass I’m familiar with a few of the greatest names to ever grace the sport. I’m definitely not mechanically blessed, or savvy, for that matter, but I appreciate and respect the hell out of classic cars and the motorsport industry.
Blaine, my husband, also enjoys NASCAR, so when he caught wind of a Dale Earnhardt documentary playing on Amazon Prime, he knew he wanted to watch it. I’ve been watching it with him, and it is excellent.
Titled Earnhardt, the documentary, as the title suggests, depicts the life and legacy of Dale Earnhardt over the span of four episodes. It is informative as hell, and I’ve learned a thing or two about Mr. Earnhardt both on and off the track, but I found the information depicting his personal life to be the most interesting, personally.
The documentary is great. It is a fantastic blend of racing, family, history and passion, and the interviews throughout the episodes are fascinating. If you’re a NASCAR fan, you absolutely need to watch Earnhardt, and if you’re not a fan of motorsports, I’m going to go out on a limb and recommend it anyways. It really is that good.
