Know your green

I am choosing to be vulnerable in this post, and I hope that in doing so I am not judged too harshly, because I am going to admit something that is now rather embarrassing for me to acknowledge as a seasoned pot smoker. While it is difficult for me to admit this, I think I had been smoking weed for about a year or so before I realized that different types of marijuana have different effects on the mind and body in the context of a high. I don’t know why it never occurred to me that there are different types, but let’s blame my lack of intelligence on youthful ignorance, shall we?

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s discuss the three types of cannabis: indica, sativa, and hybrid. In my own words, indica will chill you out in mind and body and might make you feel sleepy. Sativa, in my own words, is a head high, and a hybrid, again in my own words, is a combination of both and what they cause you to feel.

My preference is sativa. It gives me creative inspiration, which is pretty neat, and it calms me without making me feel like a zombie, if that makes sense. Indica is alright, but I don’t personally love how its high feels because I feel as though I’ve been doused in molasses and can’t function terribly well. Hybrids are nice for when I’m in the mood for a little bit of both types of high, which is rare.

It’s important to have an understanding of what sort of effects each type of cannabis has prior to using it, especially if you’re not terribly savvy with marijuana and don’t use it a lot. Knowing what to expect as opposed to the unknown is my preferred stance when it comes to the devil’s lettuce, so cheers to anyone out there who feels the same way.
