Looking to spruce up your eyebrows? Read this

I have always had what would likely be considered relatively thin eyebrows. I probably always will, and I think this may be a result of serious over-plucking when I was a teenager.

I am so, so sorry for what I did to you, eyebrows.

Despite my foolishness in my youth, I’ve always liked the look of thicker eyebrows, so the odd time I wear makeup, I usually end up filling mine in to give the appearance they’re a wee bit thicker than what they actually are. I’ve been using an eyebrow gel from e.l.f. Cosmetics for quite a while now that I like, but I recently heard about a new eyebrow gel from Maybelline that not only secures your brow hair in place, but additionally gives them some extra volume to look thicker. I decided to give the Maybelline gel a try, and I wanted to offer my honest thoughts.

The Maybelline New York Superfluff Brow Mousse is pretty affordable. It retails for roughly $16 before tax, which is relatively comparable to most brow gels on the market, but it is a lot more expensive than the e.l.f. one I use. The Maybelline gel does not come in a blonde shade, so I opted for soft brown.

I’ve used it a few times now, and I do like it. It definitely adds volume and colour to your eyebrows, but a little goes a looooooong way; the first time I used it, I applied as much as I would if I were using the e.l.f. gel, and I bore a strong resemblance to Eugene Levy. So, be sure to go in with a light hand, and I find that using a spoolie to comb the gel through your brows after you apply it helps to evenly distribute the product. I do think I prefer it to the elf gel because it packs a bigger punch.
